All of the state those not have the same type of training procedure; some have regional training academies that are available to local agencies. The correctional officers periodically inspect the facilities, checking cells and other areas of the institution. They usually do that to protect themselves among the contraband, fire hazards and other evidence of the infraction of the rules. At night time, they routinely inspect locks, window bars, grille doors, gates for signs of tampering. Officers also inspect mail and visitors for prohibited items They orally report in written the conduct of inmate, quality and the minimum of work they have done Violations of the rules, disturbances, and unusual activities are reported too. The officers are often handcuffing, leg irons to escort the inmate in highest security facilities, where the most dangerous inmate are They even control the activities of the prisoners from the center with close -circuit cameras and computer tracking system.  Some officers can become sergeant depend of they education, experience, and training that they may qualified for. Some even get a chance to transfer to related jobs, such as Probation Officers, Parole Officers, and Correctional Treatment Specialist.

The jailers held about 484.000 jobs, 3 to every 5 jobs were the state correctional institutions such as: prisons, camp, and youth correctional facilities. 15.000 were on private owned and prison management, and 16.000 were federal correctional institutions. Because of the low salaries, shift work, the correctional agencies were unable to keep qualified applicants.

They earn approximately $33,600 in the past years, for federal government $33,750 in state government and $33,080 for local government. Where there’s small number of officers employed privately, they earn $21,490. According to bureau of prison, the stating salary for federal correctional officers was about $26,747 a year in 2005.               To be a Correctional Officer mean a lot, because it’s not so easy or difficult. Getting into it required many things specially the abilities to learn and to with others. Sometimes, the job can be stressful and hazardous. Some Correctional Officers are even employed in state and some in federal prison. In the correction they required many things like: Nature of work, condition of work and a good qualification etc…

The nature of working in correction is to maintain security, and inmate accountability to prevent: Disturbances, assaults and escape. Where they are working they don’t have no responsibilities other things than they jobs. Sometimes Correctional Officers in local jails admit and process about 12 mils. people a year, with about 700,000 offenders in jail at the given time. Individuals who are first time arrested their true identities or criminal record that they have, may not know by the jail staff. Visitor is the most dangerous phase of the incarceration. The Officers also escort the prisoners among certain places, for example: Courtrooms, institution, medical facilities and other destinations outside of the prison. They called the court officers bailiffs, because they’re part of Law Enforcement officers, who maintain order in the courtrooms and safety. There are various locations: Assisting Judge, Delivering Court Document, Guarding Juries from Outside Contact and General Security for Courthouses.

Lances say the hardest part is the end. When the end comes you have to get yourself mentally and emotionally prepared to either break someone’s heart or ruin their marriage. I’ve gotten used to it now. This part sort of becomes black and white at times. The most unusual Confrontation I had was when the woman brought her husband to the unveiling of my investigation. I did feel real bad at this particular one because the person who the husband was cheating with was the woman’s sister and his secretary. I do call most of my clients back because I do know that the information I provide is devastating. Also when you call them back and ask them general questions about how they’re doing you’re more likely to get more clients because they believe you care and is generally concerned.

He goes on to say that he feels in a  50 years this will be one of those fields that will become obsolete due to the internet. Now with different  technology people can do there own search because when husbands or wives do there infidelity thing they leave a paper trail. When you leave a paper trail your generally caught.

Private investigators have some what of a dirty job. They have to unveil schemes, infidelity, and fraud. People never lead you on a straight path so always be prepared for the worse. Work under the watchful eyes and always be able to camouflage and never wear anything that will get you caught. Never let someone who has been caught by you get under your skin because they have been caught. Those are just a few of the sayings Lance conducts himself by. Lance Is currently testifying in  a divorce case right now and leaves me with these final words: Private Investigation field is a way I have become a Criminal investigator without being a police officer, my life isn’t on the line as much, and I don‘t have to deal with arresting someone.

Furthermore the aspect of Private investigators that cheaters portray is not accurate. They only show about one day of investigations and mostly at a resident or a public place. But what about those places you can’t see and the extent you have to go to not get caught by your target. The Private investigator knows a lot of people and have different looks. But always keep in mind that Private investigators are not bad just the people who they have to investigate.

The scenery and locations for a private investigator on a case may vary. One day you could go to a bar, the next morning to a board room, and the next after noon at someone’s resident. You get to meet different people and network for another case. In the private investigations field you have to be able to access different cars, clothes to blend with the town, and on some occasions you might have to bring in someone else to help you out. But generally Private investigators work alone. This is done so no one would taint the case by doing things over and you run the possibility of getting spotted.

I interviewed a Private investigator named Lance Allen. He worked as a private investigator for about 20 years now. He works at Florida detectives P.I. firm. We had to talk on the phone because Lance was on a case. He say’s he enjoy the work as a Private investigator because he never stays in the same place for 4 weeks and no two cases are ever alike. They might have the same concept but people are different. He also like the aspect because he can look at someone and they don’t know he’s even looking at them. He likes the feel of invisibility. Lance investigate infidelity. Most of his clients are the wives of predominant people meaning “Pillars of the community.” They have access to different places so he’s never in the same hotel, bar, or car for to long.

Lance has been caught twice out of his twenty year term. He recalls on of those incidents that he says he could never forget. He was in key west and he just got a promotion to be on his own. It was a simple mistake he adds the mistress of the guy spotted him by his clothes. He still got the information he needed but he was spotted by not changing his clothes. The woman who spotted him latter said (after being confronted with the evidence)  said she spotted him because the first time he walked by her she admired his aroma and his tattoo. He says now he knows not to wear anything that will distinguish him especially his aroma.

To start my research I first wanted to look up how do you become a  Private Investigators in the U.S. In 43 of our 50 states and the District of Columbia require Private investigators to be licensed in that field. Before you get your license you have to go to a training course. Different schools and classes vary by the institution administering the class. Now days you can get your private investigations certificate online. You probably wont get taught as much as you would in a class room but this is the internet age. The course for private investigator is approximately 4 months to a year. At the end of your course some schools even help you get an intern job with a Private investigator. They call it the final step.

In all states that require a license for being a Private investigator you must first be a intern. For being a Private investigator trainee you must require a “CC” license in the state of  Florida. For a full fledge investigator you have to have a regular “C” license. To be and armed investigator you need to have a “G” License. The requirements for a private investigator “CC” or “C” license is that the applicant must provide the following: Any person applying for a license must: Be at least 18 years of age, Be a citizen of the United States or a legal resident of the United States or have been granted authority to work by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Have no disqualifying criminal history, Be of good moral character, Have no disqualifying history of mental illness or alcohol or controlled substance abuse, Name, Date of birth, Social security number, Place of birth, Residence addresses for the past five years, Occupations for the past five years, Statement of all criminal convictions, Statement whether he or she has been adjudicated incompetent or committed to a mental institution, Statement regarding any history of alcohol or controlled substance abuse, Two full-face color photographs, Full set of prints on the Division’s fingerprint card, Personal inquiry waiver, and Appropriate fees.

The going pay of a private investigator. Today’s pay is anywhere from $32,000 to about $60,000 a year depending on your client and the amount of work your doing for them. In the year 2004 about 43,000 jobs nation wide was held by Private investigators 26 percent of those Private investigators moonlighted as Self employed Private investigators just to earn more money.

Private investigators have a very irregular work schedule because they need to trail their target and conduct surveillance on the targets every move and they need to contact people who are not available during normal business hours. Early morning, evening, holidays, and weekends are very common for a private investigator. 99.9 percent of the time their schedule of a private investigator is inevitable to try to put on a set schedule. During regular work hours most of Private investigators spend time researching and gathering information on computers and making numerous phone calls.
